There is nothing like summer at The Ford Field & River Club when our exciting lineup of family-friendly events makes for an unforgettable season in the Lowcountry. From kids’ nature and golf camps to our July 4th celebration, which will feature our first-ever fireworks show this year, there’s something for everyone to enjoy all summer long at The Ford.
Independence Day Golf Cart Parade, BBQ & Fireworks Spectacular
July 4
Join fellow members in honoring Independence Day with our Golf Cart Parade! Deck out your golf cart in vibrant red, white, and blue decorations or simply enjoy as a spectator. The parade will begin at the Clubhouse, continue to the Marina, and end at Lake Dye Grill for you to enjoy the pool and lunch!
Later in the evening, enjoy live music, BBQ fare, activities for the kids and more. Then, watch as we light up the night sky in celebration of Independence Day.

Enjoy an evening of fantastic live music, proudly presented by the unofficial “Ford Live Music Committee,” featuring Gavin Herrington, a regular performer at a local favorite restaurant, Fish Tales.
Naturalist Guided Sunset Kayaking
July 12, 19 & August 30
Calling all photographers and sunset enthusiasts! Meet our Ford Naturalist at the Marina kayak launch for a guided trip through Lake Clara. The on-site naturalist will discuss any exciting nature sightings throughout your journey as well as give you helpful kayaking tips and tricks. This is a great opportunity for more timid and new kayakers to gain experience and confidence or for experienced kayakers to learn more natural history of The Ford.
Beach Trips to Wassaw Island
July 13
Join our Outdoor Pursuits team for an excursion to nearby Wassaw Island, one of Georgia’s barrier islands, only accessible by boat. Enjoy a scenic boat ride, a relaxing day on the beach, lunch provided by our team, and a nature walk with The Ford’s Naturalist.
Kids Horsemanship Camp
July 16-19
Dive into the exciting world of all things equine with The Ford’s Equestrian Team! Experience the daily operations of a horse farm, from grooming to learning about tack, horse breeds and more. This complimentary camp is for kids 6-13 years old.
Junior Summer Golf Camp
July 16-July 21
We’re thrilled to announce The Ford’s second annual weeklong Junior Summer Golf Camp, with 9-hole Interclub matches against Richmond Hill Golf Club juniors on Saturday and Sunday. RHGC will host Saturday’s event, and The Ford will host Sunday’s match.
Fishing at The Ford

Join the Outdoor Pursuits team for a ‘classroom-style’ lesson where you’ll learn all about tackle and different fishing techniques. Then, enjoy fishing around The Ford property, using your newly learned skills.
