Home for the Holidays:
Traditions at The Ford Field & River Club

Published on

The Ford Field & River Club embraces the holiday season by transforming our Lowcountry community into a haven of colorful lights, festive events and an infectious sense of cheer, making it the perfect place to call home for the holidays. From our joyous Christmas Tree-Lighting Ceremony to our heartwarming Giving Tree initiative to our meaningful Menorah Lighting, our members come together to create special memories with those nearest and dearest. With new faces and exciting events on the horizon, we’re gearing up for a season filled with anticipation and cherished moments ahead.

Christmas Tree-Lighting Ceremony

Kick off your holiday season at The Ford with our Christmas Tree-Lighting Ceremony, featuring a North Pole bounce house, a snow machine, Christmas cookies, plenty of apple cider and a hot chocolate bar sure to thrill kids and adults alike at the Clubhouse.

Giving Tree

The spirit of generosity has long been an integral part of our private community, upheld throughout the year by our thoughtful members, especially during the holiday season. For the seventh consecutive year, The Ford is hosting a donation drive for clothes and toys to support Bryan County Family Connection. In our sales office, a holiday gifting Christmas tree is adorned with paper angel ornaments, each one indicating an item requested by a family in need. Our generous members stop by to select an ornament and later return with the item for donation.

Champagne Wine Dinner

Take your holiday festivities up a notch with a Champagne Wine Dinner at The Main House, newly and wonderfully renovated, looking better than ever. This elegant event gives attendees the opportunity to explore wines from the Champagne region of France, with Executive Chef Luis Young expertly pairing a delicious menu to complement each wine.

Breakfast with Santa

Come meet Santa at the Clubhouse! Each year, the families of The Ford drop by the Clubhouse to visit and take a picture with jolly old Saint Nick. It’s a fun and festive morning, made even better by the day’s delicious breakfast buffet. Strike a lively pose with Santa, tell him what you’d like for Christmas and head home with a full belly and a photo to cherish through the season.

12 Days of Christmas Eve Dinner Sing-Along

Come Christmas Eve, our Clubhouse is the place to be. Join families of The Ford for a celebration of Christmas with a very special three-course dinner. The evening’s highlight is surely our members, young and old alike, singing along to “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” a Christmas carol we’ve all grown up with. Not everyone can carry a tune, or even remember the lyrics in their entirety, but that’s no matter. In fact, it makes it all the more fun! What really matters is sharing a wonderful time together.

Lighting a Menorah

Many of our members here at The Ford will be celebrating Hanukkah by lighting their menorah at home and reading nightly blessings aloud with loved ones. As part of our community Hanukkah celebration, The Ford will be serving traditional menu items at the Clubhouse, where many families come to dine throughout the holiday’s eight days and join our evening readings and lighting of the menorah.

New Year’s Eve Dinner & After-Party

Ring in the new year at the Clubhouse! Celebrate the end of another great year at The Ford and the beginning of the next one with a special dinner menu and an especially festive evening to follow. The after-party will be held in the bar and is open to all.

The Ford 100

Once the new year is underway, many members of The Ford join “The Ford 100,” a friendly fitness challenge to help motivate any health-conscious resolutions. For the year’s first 100 days, our members strive to accumulate as many miles as possible by walking, jogging, biking, kayaking and the like, all right here, across our 1,800 acres. It’s such a fun way to get moving — and stay motivated — with fellow members cheering on one another.
