Holiday Traditions Our Members Cherish at The Ford

Published on

At The Ford Field & River Club, our members celebrate the holidays every year with exclusive events hosted right here. All season long, our events bring together neighbors and friends, providing endless opportunities to socialize and connect with one another. An abundance of peace, joy and love fills every corner of our private, Lowcountry community. Cheerful holiday music carols echo throughout The Main House, all while twinkling lights and stunning decorations adorn many of our homeowners’ front doors.

A few beloved holiday traditions our members enjoy at The Ford:

12 Days of Christmas Eve Dinner Sing-Along

On Christmas Eve at The Clubhouse, the families of The Ford celebrate the holiday together for a very special four-course dinner. Members both young and old sing along to the “12 Days of Christmas,” a Christmas carol we’ve all grown to love over the years. Not everyone remembers all the lyrics, but it doesn’t matter — the fun is all in holding hands, swaying to the beat and carrying the tune along — even if a few of us are slightly off-key!

Lighting a Menorah

This year, Hanukkah falls between December 18 and 26. Many of our members at The Ford will celebrate by lighting a menorah inside the comfort of their homes and reading aloud nightly blessings together with loved ones. Traditional menu items like potato latkes are served at The Clubhouse, where many families come to dine during the eight days of the holiday and join our nightly menorah lighting and readings.

Giving Tree

The beauty of our private community in the Lowcountry comes not just from the Spanish moss hanging from centuries-old oaks, but also from the spirit of giving, upheld by our members all year long, especially during the holidays. For the sixth year in a row, The Ford is hosting a toy and clothing donation drive in support of Bryan County Family Connection. In our sales office, a holiday gifting Christmas tree is decorated with paper angel ornaments, each indicating an item requested by a family in need. Our members stop by to select an ornament and then return later with the item for donation.

Breakfast with Santa

Bring the kids along to meet Santa at The Clubhouse! Every year, the families of The Ford love taking a photo with everyone’s favorite white-bearded, jolly old Saint Nick. Along with feasting on a delicious breakfast buffet, our members enjoy getting together for this beloved annual tradition. Strike a pose, tell Santa your wishlist and then head home with a family photo to cherish for a lifetime.

The Ford 100

At the start of the new year, our members and guests love joining The Ford 100, a fitness challenge filled with plenty of friendly competition. For the first 100 days of the year, participants will work to accumulate as many miles as possible by walking, biking, jogging, kayaking and more, which can all be accomplished on or off property! It’s a fun way to get moving – and motivated – with fellow neighbors and friends cheering one another along.
