Spring at The Ford Field & River Club means near-perfect weather every day, with azaleas in full bloom and an array of Lowcountry events for the whole family to enjoy. From new member mixers and golf club championships on our award-winning course, to Savannah’s celebrated St. Patrick’s Day Parade and two-week music festival, we have an incredible spring lineup of events and offerings for everyone to enjoy while home at The Ford.
1. Savannah St. Patrick’s Day Parade | March 16
Savannah’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration is a lively affair filled with Irish traditions, lively tunes, excitement, and plenty of emerald hues. The St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Savannah is renowned as one of the biggest in the country. From all corners of the Southeast, marching bands, dancers and elaborate floats make their way to Savannah to join in the festivities. Both residents and tourists eagerly anticipate this annual event, as it is one of the most well-known happenings in the city.
2. Kids and Captains | March 16, Every other Saturday
Join the Outdoor Pursuits staff every other Saturday at Ogeechee Outfitters for two hours of supervised activities for the kids. Each session offers a variety of adventures, ranging from archery to nature walks exploring all the outdoor wonders The Ford has to offer for children, while also introducing some aquatic fun with fishing, crabbing, shrimp catching and more. Kids under 6 must be accompanied by an adult.
3. An Evening with Frogs and The Ford Naturalist | March 20
Monitoring frogs in the spring and summer is a great way to gauge the health of local wetland ecosystems. Join our onsite Naturalist at the Marina for a presentation on amphibians and how to ID common frogs by sound, then spend time surveying frogs around the property. Bring a headlamp or flashlight for the surveying portion.
4. Happy Hour with Horses | March 20
Join us at the Equestrian Center on the third Wednesday of every month for a delightful evening celebrating our shared love for horses and cocktails. Indulge in horse-themed libations while our knowledgeable equestrian manager shares captivating histories and origins of each drink, from the iconic “White Horse” to the regal “Queen of the Rodeo”. This is more than just a gathering—it’s an opportunity to bond over our passion for horses with fellow enthusiasts and delve into the rich heritage of equestrian-inspired mixology.
5. The Ford New Member Meet & Mingle | March 28
New Member Meet and Mingle event during Cookies and Cocktails at the historic Main House. It’s the perfect occasion to meet new people and create lasting friendships with your neighbors.
6. Savannah Music Festival | March 28 – April 13
The Savannah Music Festival is one of the region’s most lively, colorful events of the year, featuring more than two weeks of events and entertainment. By attending the festival’s live concerts, dance performances, art panels and more, you can help support the festival’s year-round education efforts for more than 10,000 students in coastal Georgia and South Carolina schools.

7. The Ford Club Championship | April 19-20
All members are invited to participate in The Ford’s Club Championship weekend on our award-winning Pete Dye golf course. Winners in the Men’s, Ladies’ and Senior categories will be crowned in Gross prize divisions, with additional Net prize flights, including a Saturday-only junior division. Men’s, Senior (55 and above), and Super Senior (70 and above) championship flights will feature a qualifying round on Friday, advancing the top eight (Men’s and Senior) or four (Super Senior) scores to Saturday’s match play.
8. The Ford Couples Championship | April 27
Compete for the title of Couples Champion in this 18-hole, best-ball style tournament. Following the exciting competition on the Pete Dye golf course, winners will be recognized with Net and Gross prizes at the Clubhouse Bar.
9. The Ford Kentucky Derby Party | May 4
It’s no surprise The Ford’s annual Kentucky Derby Party is a community favorite. Join us at The Main House dressed in your best derby attire, complete with hats and bowties, to delight in the many delicious food stations, sip mint juleps, and socialize with friends and neighbors. The real fun begins after the derby when you can watch the live pig races and cheer on your favorite to win.
10. The Ford Memorial Day Pool Party | May 27
Kick off the summer season at our annual Memorial Day Pool Party at Lake Dye Grill. Bring the whole family and your best dance moves for live music, an enticing buffet, and fun treats for the kids.
