Coffee With Captains

The Ford hosted Bill Eberlein, owner of Megateeth Fossils, for an engaging morning of discovery. A seasoned diver, Bill shared tales from his explorations of Georgia’s coastal waters. He described unearthing prehistoric treasures, from whale fossils to massive Megalodon shark teeth. Attendees were transported to an ancient world as Bill recounted his underwater quests. His passion for fossil hunting shone through, offering a unique glimpse into local prehistory. The event drew curious minds, leaving all with a newfound appreciation for the hidden wonders beneath our coast.
Doggy Play Dates Kickoff Party

Pecan Grove came alive as members and their four-legged companions gathered for the launch of Doggy Play Dates. A charming fall-themed photo area, adorned with hay bales and pumpkins, provided the perfect backdrop for capturing memories with furry friends. Many pups sported festive bandanas, adding to the seasonal spirit.
This kickoff marked the beginning of weekly Doggy Play Dates, scheduled for every Friday. These gatherings offer members and their dogs a chance to socialize and enjoy off-leash playtime together.
Homecoming Oyster Roast

The Ford’s long-standing tradition of the Oyster Roast was a resounding success this year, drawing together both new and long-time members for one of the season’s most anticipated events. Generations of families gathered to celebrate the beauty of the Lowcountry at our historic Oyster House. Our culinary team delivered a feast of fresh-caught shrimp and oysters, alongside a buffet brimming with Southern favorites. With music filling the air and drinks flowing from the full bar, adults enjoyed a spirited evening, while kids roasted marshmallows by the fire and danced beneath the stars.
Homecoming Bootcamp

The Sports Barn buzzed with energy as members kicked off their weekend with an invigorating workout. From 8 to 9 AM, fitness enthusiasts gathered for a complimentary bootcamp class, designed to challenge and motivate participants of all levels. This free class exemplified The Ford’s commitment to promoting health and wellness within the community. Members left feeling energized and accomplished, ready to tackle the rest of the weekend’s Homecoming festivities.
Homecoming Scholarship Scramble

The Ford’s golf season teed off with purpose as members gathered for a step-aside scramble, raising funds for The Ford Scholarship Fund, which helps Ford employees, their spouses and children attend post-secondary education, funded solely by member donations. The event balanced charitable giving with sport and community. Players formed foursomes or joined teams set up by the golf staff. The Pete Dye course set the stage for friendly competition, with contests throughout the round adding excitement. Afterward, members enjoyed light appetizers, cool drinks, and shared stories, setting a positive tone for the season ahead.
Homecoming Treasure Hunt:
Saturday, October 12
The Ford’s ODP team assembled at the Oyster House as dawn broke. Team Captains and Naturalists readied for an exciting quest to uncover the community’s hidden treasures. Map-wielding participants spread across the grounds, eager to begin their adventure. Children ages 5 and up led the charge, racing from clue to clue. Laughter rang out as new friendships formed amid the thrill of discovery. The hunt brought out the adventurous spirit in everyone, of all ages. The Marina became the final destination, where hunters converged to share their tales over a hearty buffet lunch.
Homecoming Gala
Saturday, October 12
The Main House transformed into a dazzling 1920s spectacle for The Great Gatsby-themed gala. Members embraced the theme wholeheartedly, with many donning stunning period clothing that enhanced the festive atmosphere. Food stations offered delicious fare, while themed cocktails flowed freely. A surprise ‘speakeasy’ pop-up and live music by Martini Pop enhanced the night’s ambiance. As the night progressed, it was clear that this event would long be remembered as a highlight of the Homecoming weekend, bringing together the community.
