At The Ford Field & River Club, summer days stretch out with a sense of ease—unhurried, open-ended and full of possibility. From teeing off on the Pete Dye-designed course to boating along the Ogeechee River, to time on the courts and gatherings at the Clubhouse, this is what a perfect summer day at The Ford looks like—and why so many choose to make it their home.
Morning: Golf, Coffee and Golfer’s Corner
Start the day with a peaceful walk or bike ride beneath the moss-draped oaks. Then ease into a round on our award-winning Pete Dye golf course—no tee times required.
And, if you’re playing Tuesday through Sunday, be sure to stop by the new Golfer’s Corner, located upstairs in the Clubhouse. It’s stocked with grab-and-go casual favorites like hot dogs and Bavarian pretzels to keep members fueled through the back nine.

Midday: Pickleball Clinic + Lunch
After golf, swap your spikes for sneakers and head to the pickleball courts. Whether you’re just learning or already advanced, join one of the weekday Pickleball Clinics and come back on the weekend for open play. Once you’ve worked up an appetite, swing by the Clubhouse for lunch. The Clubhouse is serving fresh seasonal fare, perfect to enjoy either at the Club or wherever the day takes you—on your porch, down by the dock, or in the shade near the courts.
Afternoon: Spa Appointments, Trail Rides or Time on the River
As the sun reaches its peak, slow the pace. Book an afternoon appointment at The Spa for a massage, skin treatment, manicure or body treatment—members say it’s one of the most peaceful places on property, especially in the quiet hours between lunch and dinner.

Not in the mood for a service? Settle in at The Main House instead. The rocking chairs, coastal breeze and a cold drink in hand make for an unbeatable combination. On select afternoons, members enjoy seasonal programming, like the Summer Book Club, Trivia Night or Bingo Night. Or, if you’re looking to stretch your legs a bit more, this is a perfect time to explore The Ford’s miles of scenic trails on horseback with a guided ride from the Equestrian Center.
For water lovers, join a naturalist-led Sunset Moonrise Kayak adventure or try your hand at fishing at The Ford. Our ODP captains offer a guided intro before you cast off across the property using techniques you’ve just learned.

Evening: Cookies, Cocktails & Connection
As golden hour rolls in, head back to The Main House for one of our most cherished member traditions: Cookies and Cocktails with fellow friends and neighbors.
Then make your way to the Clubhouse for dinner with family or friends—indoors for something more intimate, or out on the terrace overlooking the back nine. With good company and a familiar setting, it’s the kind of evening that feels distinctly like summer at The Ford.
Nightcap: Movies & Moonlight Soaks
End the night with a relaxing soak underneath the stars in the Lake Dye hot tub, just a short walk or golf cart ride from the Clubhouse. Or, bring a chair and join your neighbors for live entertainment at the Lake Dye Pool.
Every day at The Ford invites members to embrace what matters most: time outdoors, meaningful connections, and the space to both explore and recharge.

Experience summer at The Ford the way our members do.
